John Travolta will receive the supporting actor of the year award at the 11th annual Hollywood Awards presentation in Los Angeles on Oct 22.
Travolta's selection was determined by his gender-bending performance as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray; the cast of the film will also be on hand at the ceremony to receive a previously announced Ensemble Acting Of The Year Award.
'We are honored that John Travolta will be the recipient of this year's Hollywood Supporting Actor of the Year Award. His superb performance in Hairspray should be acknowledged and enjoyed by the established film industry as well as the public at large,' said Carlos de Abreu, the executive director of the Hollywood Film Festival which hosts the Hollywood Awards.
