Angle Films is the new company jointly owned and operated by Paul Brooks’ Gold Circle Films and Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions.

The company’s mandate is to finance and produce genre films budgeted in the $15-30m range.

Both Blumhouse – riding high on Paranormal Activity 3 – and Gold Circle, which produced White Noise, Life As We Know It and The Haunting In Connecticut, have separate deals at Universal which will continue.

“Jason and Paul are at the top of their game in producing genre films, which is why the teaming of these two talented filmmakers is such an attractive proposition for Universal,” Universal chairman Adam Fogelson and co-chairman Donna Langley said in a statement.

“We couldn’t be more delighted to be expanding our much-valued relationship with Universal at this time,” Brooks said.  “Additionally, to be doing this in conjunction with my friend Jason at this point in his career is very compelling.”

“I’m excited to collaborate with Paul and Universal to add mid-budget genre films to our existing low-budget business,” Blum said.  “Universal has been a great partner for Blumhouse and I look forward to expanding our relationship.”
