Arman Assante, David Caruso and Robert Forster head the casts of a slate of new action-thrillers unveiled by film and TV group Promark Entertainment.

All three pictures will be co-produced with German post-production powerhouse Das Werk, marking the first time that the two companies have co-operated on a creative level since Das Werk acquired a 73% stake last October.

First up is the $6m Federal Protection, which starts principal photography next month. Assante plays a man who uses the a witness protection scheme to escape the Mob, but whose true identity is disclosed when he falls in love.

Caruso stars in Black Point, the story of an former-Navy officer who tries to save a woman from an abusive marriage, only to be framed for the murders she has committed. David Mackay will direct on a $6m budget.

Sean Patrick Flanery is set to star alongside Forster in Lone Hero, the story of an actor turned action hero. Directed by The Replacement Killers' Ken Sanzel, it is budgeted at $5.5m.

Promark's current roster is headed by The Shipment, another action picture which premieres at Cannes.
