German actress Barbara Rudnik (pictured) has been named chairperson of the international jury for the PLANET Documentary Film Prize 2004.

The other members of the jury are Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker Christian Frei (War Photographer), European Film Award winner Andres Veiel (Black Box BRD) and veteran Polish filmmaker-writer Andrzej Titkow.

The prize, which is open to film students and filmmakers who have completed film school within the last five years, includes 100% financing by PLANET of the selected documentary project and a guarantee to broadcast the resulting film in German-speaking countries.

The jury will decide on the winning entry by May 9, and the winner's film will be produced during the following months, with a premiere scheduled for the Berlinale next February.

The first PLANET Documentary Film Prize was awarded to Axel Brandt and Irina Roerig for Russenbus - Fremde Brueder which was selected from 187 treatments sent in from all over the world and screened at the Berlinale Talent Campus.
