Beta Cinema has announced its first raft of sales at the AFM, including a US sale to MPI Media Group for Paolo Sorrentino's Cannes award-winner Il Divo.

The drama about the controversial Italian politician Giulio Andreotti has also been sold to Germany (Delphi Film), Sweden (Folkets Bio), Denmark (Sunrise Film), Poland (Against Gravity, and HBO Poland for pay-TV), Czech Republic/Slovakia (David Matous Communications) and Hungary (Best Hollywood).

In addition, Beta has clinched deals with Italy's Lady Film and Mars Production in Turkey and is final negotiations with France for Philipp Stoelzl's Alpine drama North Face which has a market screening on Friday Nov 7th.

Uberto Pasolini's story of a sham handball team from Sri Lanka Machan has been picked up for France (UGC), Canada (Alliance Atlantis) and Switzerland (Rialto Film), while Hannes Stoehr's techno drama Berlin Calling was acquired by Best Hollywood (Hungary) and David Matous Communications (Czech Republic/Slovakia).

Adnan G Koese's Run For Your Life, based on the true story of the world-class triathlete Andreas Niedrig, was sold to Hungary (Best Hollywood) and Croatia/Bosnia/Serbia (Pa-Do-Ra).

Meanwhile, Beta Cinema has taken on international distribution for feature debutant Su Turhan's culture clash drama Ayla which began shooting in Munich this week for Heart of Fire producers Andreas Bareiss and Sven Burgemeister. Zorro Film will release theatrically in Germany.
