John Boorman is to direct Samuel L Jackson and Juliette Binoche in South African-set drama Country Of My Skull. UK-based sales company The Works is representing the production worldwide, with shooting scheduled for February.

Jackson plays an angry American journalist and Binoche is a troubled young Afrikaaner who encounter a sinister security agent who is blackmailing his former masters during South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Drawn from the diaries of Antjie Krog, the story is set in the chambers of the hearings and across the South African veld.

Mike Medavoy, Kieran Corrigan and Robert Chartoff are producing, for delivery in 2003 and release in early 2004. Oscar-nominated Boorman's credits Point Blank, Deliverance, Hope And Glory, The General and The Tailor Of Panama.
