Serendipity Point Films has started principal photography on its drama Fugitive Pieces. Jeremy Podeswa isdirecting and also adapted the screenplay from Anne Michaels' book of the samename.

The story follows a Jewish-Polish boy who is orphaned during WWII, saved bya Greek archaelogist, and later finds love as an adult living in Toronto.

The shoot will continue through June 20 in Toronto and the Greek Islands ofHydra and Lesbos.

Stephen Dillane, Rosamund Pike, Ayelet Zurer, Rade Sherbedgia, Ed Stoppard,Rachelle Lefevre, and newcomers Nina Dobrev and Robert Kay will star.

Podeswa previously directed TheFive Senses and Eclipse and hasalso directed episodes of TV shows including Six Feet Under, Commander-in-Chief, and The L Word.

Producer Robert Lantos' credits include Wherethe Truth Lies, Being Julia, TheSweet Hereafter and Ararat.

"It is almost unbelievable to me that we are actually beginningprincipal photography after all this time in development. It is a small miraclethat we have managed to pull together the resources to make it," said Podeswa.

Co-producers are Sandra Cunningham, Takis Veremis, Dionyssis Samiotis andJulia Rosenberg. Andras Hamori and Christina Ford areserving as executive producers.
