The Chinese American actress and director has joined Seeing Red, a three-story onimbus featuring tales of female revenge.

Joan Chen has signed on to star and direct one section of three-story omnibus film Seeing Red. She will play a devoted housewife who discovers her husband is living a double life.

The project will comprise of three revenge stories about women in New York’s Chinatown. The English and Chinese language film will shoot in the late autumn on a budget of $4m-$6m.

Chen joins first-time director Liselle Mei (who co-wrote her segment with Derek Nguyen). The third female director will be added soon and the cast will include Chinese and U.S. talent.

Producers are Joyce Pierpoline and Richard Lormand (Happy Tears).
