Clive Owen will star in Universal Pictures and StrikeEntertainment's Children Of Men, which is being directed by Alfonso Cuaron and is based on PDJames' sci-fi novel of the same name.
Cuaron, Tim Sexton and David Arata co-wrote the screenplay set inthe near-future where mankind has virtually lost the ability to procreate.After the world's youngest person dies, Owen's character is assigned to protectthe first pregnant woman in nearly 20 years.
Marc Abraham and Eric Newman will produce the project for StrikeEntertainment. Hit and Run's Hilary Shor and Tony Smith will also serve asproducers, with Strike's Tom Bliss serving as executive producer.
Universal's senior vice president of production Dylan Clark willoversee the project for Universal and Kristal Laiblin will oversee for Strike.
Owen, who isrepresented by CAA, will next be seen in the thriller Derailed opposite Jennifer Aniston and Universal'supcoming production Inside Man opposite Denzel Washington and Jodie Foster to be directed bySpike Lee.
