Columbia TriStar FilmDistributors International (CTFDI) embarked on its second wave of internationalroll-outs for XXX over theweekend, scoring $1.2m in total with openings in Taiwan, Estonia and CentralAmerica. The Vin Diesel action movie grossed $388,000 from 18 screens inTaipei, faring slightly better than studio stablemate Vertical Limit managed in that territory two years ago. XXX took $150,000 from 88 screens in Central America andscored a terrific $33,000 opening in Estonia on three screens. Overall themovie grossed $1.2m from roughly 400 screens in eight territories, bringing itsinternational cumulative score to $3m.

Men In Black II opened at number one in Portugal, taking $331,000from 89 screens and claiming 60% of market share. In Spain the sci-fi sequelopened on $3.5m from 534 screens, about 133% higher than the original, and took50% of market share. The movie continued to do great business in the UK, where itranked third with $1.2m from 453 screens to register a $31m cumulative score.In France MIIB held on to top spotfor the fourth consecutive weekend, grossing $2m from 789 screens to give it a$21m cumulative score. MIIBgrossed $8.65m from 3,400 screens over the weekend and now has an internationalcumulative total of $213m.

Stuart Little 2 opened in Germany, Italy and Austria and securedsecond place in each territory. In Germany the family sequel grossed $1.6m from796 screens; in Italy it took $493,000 from 302 screens; and in Austria the moviegrossed $383,000 from 113 screens, 33% more than the original took in itsopening weekend. The weekend total of $3.6m from 2,400 screens boosted StuartLittle 2's international cumulativetotal to $52.2m.

CTFDI opened The CameronDiaz romantic comedy The Sweetest Thing in the UK, where it placed fifth with $904,000 from 308 screens. Themovie opened third in Belgium with $272,000 from 43 screens. Weekend businessfor The Sweetest Thing was $2.6mfrom 1,200 screens and to date the movie has a cumulative score of $19.6m.
