Content Media has bulked up its AFM slate with international rights to the rom-com starring Emmy Rossum and Justin Long.
IFC Films has acquired North American rights and set a December release on the time-hopping tale about a seemingly odd couple who meet at the Hollywood Cemetery during a meteor shower. Eric Winter also stars.
“I fell in love with Comet when I read the script many months ago, and it has lived up to its ambitious expectations,” said Content Media president of film Jamie Carmichael.
“The film has a unique quality – it’s funny, emotional and very beautiful – and wonderfully clever too. It will have couples of all ages talking about Emmy and Justin long into the night!”
“With his feature film debut, Sam Esmail has created a romance for the ages,” said Jonathan Sehring, president of Sundance Selects/IFC Films. “Emmy and Justin shine in this chronicle of a star-crossed relationship.”
Chad Hamilton produces for Anonymous Content alongside Lee Clay. The film is a Fubar Films production with Colin Bates serving as executive producer with Peter M DeGeorge, Steve Golin, Long, Rossum and William A Stetson.
Carmichael and IFC’s Arianna Bocco negotiated separate deals with the producers.
Content Media’s AFM slate includes The Diabolical with Ali Larter; Oscar Wilde’s The Canterville Ghost voiced by Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie; Life At These Speeds starring Billy Crudup, AnnaSophia Robb and Sam Rockwell; and Janis: Little Girl Blue from Amy Berg.
