The fifth CPH PIX Copenhagen International Film Festival, which was launched at Copenhagen’s Imperial Theatre on April 10, has dedicated its New Talent Grand PIX competition to first time directors.

Danish major Nordisk Film is also targeting its annual prize – DKK 1,000 times the ages of the film company, DKK107,000 ($18,649) – at young and upcoming filmmakers.

At the opening Danish director Michael Noer presented the prize to Danish director Kaspar Munk, who most recently You and Me Forever, named Best Film for Children and Young Audiences by the Danish Film Academy.

Noer, who received the award three years ago with Tobias Lindholm – with whom he made R – had signed the festival’s opening gangster movie, Northwest (Nordvest), which also competes for the Grand PIX.
