Film had its world premiere in Berlin.
Adopt Films has acquired all US rights to Ursula Meier’s Berlin competition title Sister.
The deal was negotiated by Tanja Meissner of Memento Films and Adopt’s Co-Managing Executives Tim Grady and Jeff Lipsky. Adopt plans a late 2012 theatrical release for “Sister.”
Sister stars Lea Seydoux and Kacey Mottet Klein as siblings who struggle to build a life in a valley near high-end ski resorts of the Alps. The cast also includes Gillian Anderson.
Meier also co-wrote the screenplay with Antoine Jaccoud.
Sister was produced by Denis Freyd and Ruth Waldburger.
Lipsky said, “Few directors can effectively and effortlessly tell such an intimate story on such a vast and epic visual canvas. With ‘Sister’ Ursula Meier has achieved that in spades. This is a film that sends chills down your spine. Anyone who has ever had to protect a brother or a sister will identify with this wonderful film and anyone who loves cinema will revel in it.”
Adopt’s slate also includes The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, Mighty Fine and Nuit #1.
