Bay Area distributor Nancy K Fishman has picked up Israeli director David Fisher’s documentary Six Million And One, which recounts the filmmaker’s search for his father’s history during the Holocaust.

The film will open in the US on Sept 28 at the Lincoln Plaza in New York after Fishman negotiated the acquisition with Philippa Kowarsky of Cinephil.

“I am thrilled and honoured to be distributing David Fisher’s Six Million And One,” Fishman said. “Prior to starting my company, I was the programme director of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival. I have seen many films about the Holocaust, but this is without a doubt the most eloquent and unique films I have seen about the second generation.”

Nancy Fishman Film Releasing launched in 2011 and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, in Oakland, California. Fishman’s first two acquisitions were Eytan Fox’s musical Mary Lou and Eve Annenberg’s drama Romeo And Juliet In Yiddish. Both received a limited theatrical release.
