Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter will close the 48th New York Film Festival on October 10 ten days before Warner Bros releases it in North America.

This will be the fourth time one of Eastwood’s films has screened at the event following The Changeling, Mystic River and Bird.

Hereafter stars Matt Damon, Cecile de France, Jay Mohr, Bryce Dallas Howard, George McLaren and Frankie McLaren and is based on a screenplay by Peter Morgan about three people who are haunted by mortality in different ways.

As previously announced David Fincher’s The Social Network and Julie Taymor’s The Tempest are the opening night and centerpiece selections.

The line-up includes Mike Leigh’s Another Year, Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s Palme d’Or winner Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall Past Lives, Cristi Puiu’s Aurora, Jean-Luc Godard’s Film Socialisme, and Charles Ferguson’s economic collapse documentary Inside Job.
