The UK Film Council'sPremiere Fund and FilmFour have teamed on Festival,an ensemble comedy set during the Edinburgh Fringe which will shoot on locationat the famed theatre and comedy festival this month.

The production marks thefeature debut of writer-director Annie Griffin, who won a BAFTA for Book Group, the Friday night comedy series on Channel 4. Griffinaims to lift the lid on the world's biggest fringe event through her behind thescenes story of promiscuity, insecure egos and flat trashing. The story pits aveteran comedian, played by Chris O'Dowd, against a newcomer played by LucyPunch.

Pathe UK is distributing thefilm in the UK, with Portman handling international sales. Further financecomes from support bodies Scottish Screen and the Glasgow Film Office.

Christopher Young, whoseprevious credits include Gregory's TwoGirls and The Final Curtain, isproducing the Young Pirate Films production.
