The third Aruba International Film Festival has set its 2012 dates for June 22-28.

The festival is planning several changes, including a new non-competitive documentary section relevant to Aruban audiences, as part of the Caribbean Spotlight Series. The Aruba Flavor competition will encourage local youth to get involved in filmmaking.

There will also be a new advanced programme of the 96 Hours Lab educational initiative.

The festival will introduce a new AIFF Concert Series, with the first headliner confirmed to be DJ/artist/producer Chuckie [pictured] and his Dirty Dutch crew.

AIFF Founder and executive producer Jonathan Vieira noted: “We have listened closely to the valuable feedback we received on the first two festivals and this has helped us learn, prepare and grow as an organization and given us a great blueprint to deliver what people want. We are in great shape to stage a world class film festival, with a number of new and expanded attractions, thanks to the tremendous support from all of our partners, especially the government of Aruba and the worldwide filmmaking community that has discovered and embraced the festival.”

Claudio Masenza will again serve as the festival’s artistic director.
