The inaugural Doha Tribeca Film Festival will run in Doha, Qatar, from October 29-November 1.

The festival was announced last November through a cultural partnership between Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and the Tribeca Film Festival founders Jane Rosenthal, Craig Hatkoff and Robert De Niro.

The first edition will be hosted at the Museum Of Islamic Art in Doha in association with the Qatar Museums Authority and will showcase cinema from the local Qatari community and broader Arab culture.

Over the long-term the plan is for the event to foster, support and motivate new film-makers and provide a platform for year-round educational and mentoring film activities and investment in the country.

Details on the programme will be announced later this summer and in autumn.
