Brian Robertson has been appointed chief executive of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF). He replaces Peter Hore, whose retirement was announced on July 20.

Robertson joins the CTBF from Sony Pictures, where he was chief financial officer for the UK for 15 years, latterly he was also responsible for Europe. He will begin work at the CTBF on October 1 but will not officially take over the role until November 16.

Hore will stay in a consultancy role for at least a year after his retirement, and will continue to assist on CTBF projects, including the Royal Film Performance and the running of Glebelands, the charity’s retirement home for veterans of the film and TV industries.
