Veteran producerGeoff Stier has joined Gale Anne Hurd's Valhalla Motion Pictures asproducer and the company's head of production.

Stier willoversee development and production of a slate of film and television projectsincluding comic book adaptation The Punisher for Artisan and super heroine project Flux for Paramount.

He will reportdirectly to Valhalla chairman Hurd.

'Geoff isa remarkable executive and a talented producer who has the best interest of thefilm at heart,' Hurd said in a statement.

'Hisability, as well as his relationships with film-makers and studios, will beinvaluable to us at Valhalla. We are all thrilled he has joined thecompany.'

From 1992 untilrecently Stier was a production executive at Sydney Pollack and AnthonyMinghella's Mirage Enterprises, where he was responsible for developingsuch films as The Firm, The Talented Mr. Ripley and the upcoming Cold Mountain.

Prior to thatStier served as development and public affairs officer at the UCLA Film andTelevision Archive, where he developed new programmes, including The FilmFoundation with Martin Scorsese.
