The 2008 Royal Film Performance will be a screening of Warner Bros' Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince on Monday, Nov 17.

The film selection was today confirmed by organising charity Cinema & Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF).

CTBF said it wouldn't be known until closer to November which members of the British royal family would attend.

This announcement follows the Royal Film Performance's cancellation in 2007, marking the first such gap in 60 years. Organisers had decided to screen Sarah Gavron's Brick Lane, but then said that conflicting royal schedules - not the controversial nature of the film - led to the event being cancelled.

The sixth Harry Potter film stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Julie Walters, Helena Bonham Carter and Jim Broadbent.

David Yates directed the film, which launches in UK cinemas on Nov 21.
