The Toronto International Film Festival has added two new faces to its Canadian programming team. Montreal-based academic and film journalist Matthew Hays joins Jesse Wente and Steve Gravestock on the feature film selection committee.

Programming veteran Kathleen Mullen will handle the Short Cuts Canada selection for TIFF 2008 along with programmers Alex Rogalski and Agata Smoluch Del Sorbo, who will be going on maternity leave and acting as a consultant this year.

Hays has been a film critic and reporter for The Montreal Mirror since 1993 and he has published widely in Canada as well as The Guardian in the UK. He teaches film-studies courses at Concordia University and is the author of The View from Here: Conversations with Gay and Lesbian Filmmakers.

Mullen has programmed for festivals and film centres such as the Provincetown International Film Festival, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Film Program, Out on Screen Vancouver Queer Film and Video Festival, Inside Out Toronto Lesbian and Gay Film and Video Festival, and the Vancouver International Film Festival.
