Nicholas Cage will star in German production Black Butterflies (working title), while Pierre Arditi and Jean-Pierre Marielle have been cast in French drama Zana.

A reclusive author takes in a drifter which results in unforeseen consequences in Brian Goodman’s Black Butterflies (working title), the first feature to be produced by German company Bavariapool International Coproductions. Paradox Entertainment is co-producing.  Nicolas Cage and German actress Veronica Ferres will star in this thriller, scripted by Steve Hilts and Justin Stanley. Shooting is scheduled to commence in Germany next spring.

Nick Quinn is currently preparing the shoot of his debut feature Zana, which will star Pierre Arditi and Jean-Pierre Marielle as father and son who are forced to live together after the father’s health takes a turn for the worse. The cast also features Audrey Fleurot as the nurse, Zana, who joins the new living arrangement. Andreia Barbosa wrote the screenplay and Laurent Lavolé produces for Gloria Films. Mars Films is on board as co-producer and funding for this $4.88m comedy has come from pre-acquisitions by Canal + and Ciné+.  Principal photography will start on October 31 in Paris. Mars Films will release the feature in France with Other Angle Pictures having been appointed as international sales agent.
