Gerard Depardieu will star in French thriller Miserere and the Film Agency For Wales will support Dominic Murphy’s Cassy and Jude.
A policeman and an Interpol agent have to work together to track down a murderer in Sylvain White’s Miserere. The film is based on Laurent Turner’s screenplay, and Gerard Depardieu and Joey Starr will star alongside Thierry Lhermitte, Marthe Keller and Helena Noguerra. Liaison Cinematographique, Pathé, Brio Films and TF1 are jointly producing and the $19.8m budget also includes funding from Canal + and Ciné+. The 11-week shoot will start on Monday (26) and take place in Paris and across Belgium. Pathé International handles worldwide rights and French distribution.
Dominic Murphy is preparing principal photography for Cassy and Jude, which is based on Dorothy Baker’s novel Cassandra At The Wedding and was adapted by Bruno Heller. Mike Downey and Meinir Stoutt are producing for Film And Music Entertainment and Links Film Production respectively. The Film Agency For Wales provided financial backing.
Shooting is planned for this spring and ContentFilm International has acquired international sales rights. The Film Agency For Wales also recently backed Duane Hopkins’ drama Bypass (a Swedish-UK co-production) and Spanish-UK thriller Panda Eyes, to be directed by Isabel Coixet.
