Jim Harvey has joined Los Angeles-based production, financing and sales company Media 8 as vice president of worldwide distribution after exiting the now defunct Element Films International (EFI).

Harvey will be in Toronto to oversee all sales, licensing and distribution on a slate that includes the historical drama Eichmann starring Thomas Kretschmann, and The Ramen Girl with Brittany Murphy.

Harvey, a familiar face on the festival circuit, left his post as vice president of sales at EFI two weeks ago when owner Sam Nazarian closed down the company as part of a restructure of his film business.

Prior to Element, Harvey served as executive director of sales and distribution at Myriad Pictures from 2002, handling sales on such titles as Factory Girl and Copying Beethoven.

Before that he was director of international distribution at Lakeshore International.

Media 8's slate includes horror films Mulberry Street and Wizard Of Gore, Local Color with Armin Mueller-Stahl and Ray Liotta, and One Night With The King, which stars Peter O'Toole.
