Japanese scriptwriter Isao Kiriyama, a regular collaborator with cult director Ryuhei Kitamura, is set to make his directing debut on horror project Yoroi for Gaga Communications.

Kitamura has developed the project which he will also produce alongside Ring producer Shinya Kawai. The story revolves around a hostage family on the run from samurai zombies.

Kitamura shot to international recognition with sword-fighting splatterfest Versus in 2001. Kiriyama has co-written several of his subsequent projects including Azumi, Godzilla: Final Wars and LoveDeath. He will also be co-writing Yoroi.

One of Japan's biggest indie distributors, Gaga re-established its production division in 2005 and has been developing theatrical features under the Gaga Films banner. It is also working with overseas companies on co-production projects for international markets.
