Revolution/Sony's comedy Christmas With The Kranks added an estimated $3.8m on 1,465 printsin 14 markets through Sony Pictures Releasing International (SPRI) at theweekend to raise its early international running total to $5.1m.

The picture opened in third place in the UK on $1.5m on 370, astrong debut bearing in mind that The Incredibles and Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason were always going to hold the top twospots there.

Kranks launchedon $700,000 on 223 in Australia , close to the opening of Elf last year, which finished on AU$8.2m.

In its second weekend in Germany the comedy fell a mere 11% on$680,000 on 374 for a $1.7m cumulative total.

Executives expressed satisfaction with the weekend's business, andsaid the aim was to establish a presence in markets before the holiday seasonkicks in.

Mystery The Frogotten added $4.1m on 1,660 screens in 40 markets for a $32minternational running total.
