Signalling the climax of the 10-day event in Downtown Los Angeles, Pocas Pascoal won the narrative award for All Is Well and Everardo González collected documentary honours for Drought.

Both jury winners received an unrestricted $15,000 cash prize from festival backers Film Independent.

Grainger David’s The Chair was named best narrative short and earned an unrestricted $5,000 award. The $5,000 purse for each of the documentary and animated / experimental winners went to Josh Gibson for Kudzu Vine and Joseph Pierce for The Pub.

The audience award for best narrative feature went to Benh Zeitlin’s Beasts Of The Southern Wild while Sara Lamm and Mary Wigmore scooped the best documentary prize with Birth Story: Ina May Gaskin And The Farm Midwives and Malik Bendjelloul’s Searching For Sugar Man was named best international feature.
