Principal photography of the Brazilian version of Mexican blockbuster Sex, Shame And Tears (Sexo, Pudor Y Lagrimas) kicks off February 1st in Rio de Janeiro
The movie boasts a stellar cast led by Murilo Benicio whose credits include Sandra Werneck's Possible Loves and Fina Torres' Woman On Top opposite Penelope Cruz.
Other cast members include Malu Mader (The Trespasser), Fabio Assuncao (Bellini And The Sphynx), Alessandra Negrini (Four Days In September) and Caco Ciocler (Overwhelming Women). Actor/Producer/writer/director Jorge Fernando, who has directed several films and TV series for Brazilian television giant Globo, will direct the ensemble comedy.
The co production between Brazil's Total Filmes and Mexico's Titan Prods. is backed by Fox Filmes Brasil which holds the distribution rights to Brazil. Globo Filmes, the film arm of Globo, co produces the battle-of-the-sexes romp.
The original Mexican version was the highest performing local blockbuster in recent years, grossing $12.4m. Priest scandal drama El Crimen Del Padre Amaro, knocked it off its perch last year when it raced past Sexo's record in 20 days.
