The A24 sales team will bring Alex Garland’s sci-fi fantasy epic Elden Ring to AFM and has already struck a pay-1 deal with Amazon MGM Studios for what Screen understands to be a large international footprint.
Theatrical buyers will get the chance to acquire a piece of the project, although it will not come cheap. According to sources it carries a budget in the $175m-$200m range, making it a huge prospect for potential partners with an appetite for a major theatrical tentpole.
A24 will host a presentation in Los Angeles during the November 10-15 market and executives are expected to show visual material, although given that the project is in post there is unlikely to be any footage.
Garland’s video game adaptation stars Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw, Cailee Spaeny, Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz and Nick Offerman. Connor was among the cast on Garland’s 2025 A24 release Warfare, and Offerman starred in the UK creator’s Hulu sci-fi series Devs.
Elden Ring is by far A24’s biggest production to date and will eventually land on HBO Max per the company’s US pay-1 output deal. A24 is riding high with its documentary smash You Can See Everything in active release, and also scored a critical hit with Venice premiere Primetime starring Robert Pattinson.
