EXCLUSIVE: French writer-director Victoria Musiedlak will begin production next month on her second feature L’Incident that stars Alba Rohrwacher and Tahar Rahim as a couple grappling with the aftermath of a family drama. Be For Films has boarded the project and will launch pre-sales at EFM.
Rohrwacher and Rahim play Harry and Appolonia, a close-knit couple and parents to two little girls who return to France after 15 years abroad. During a holiday at Harry’s parents’ home, Appolonia tells her husband about an inappropriate gesture from her father-in-law (Jean-Pierre Darroussin) and the two argue about whether it was a tasteless joke or a sign of something far more disturbing.
The film is Musiedlak’s follow-up to her debut feature First Case that premiered at Locarno in 2023. She reteams with France Ligne 2, who produce with French outfit Agat Films and with Be For Films who handled sales on First Case.
Shooting will begin on March 17 in France and Norway. Diaphana will release the film in France in 2027.
Be For Films’ CEO and head of sales Pamela Leu told Screen: “We are proud to reunite with Victoria [Musiedlak], Ligne 2, and Agat Films on this powerful story, written with intelligence and emotional force.”
