EXCLUSIVE: Andrea Riseborough and Guy Pearce have joined Raffey Cassidy and Alessandro Nivola in the cast of Antonia Campbell-Hughes’ thriller High End.

Production began in Geneva, Switzerland on March 8 and will continue in Ireland until April 10.

High End is also known as the previous title, Diamond Shitter, in select territories. Riseborough and Pearce replace previously announced Eva Green and Ben Whishaw.

The story unfolds against the backdrop of the affluent expatriate community in Geneva. Young intern Nollaig ignites a darkly visceral shift within the privileged home of her host family when she steals their precious diamonds, absorbing them into her body, and in the process unmasks the deeper truths beneath their glittering privilege.

The film is being produced by Rory Gilmartin and Lee Magiday of Ireland’s Cuala Films and the UK’s Smoke Puppy, respectively, with Alan Maher. Max Karli and Pauline Gygax of Switzerland’s Rita Productions are co-producing. Beta Cinema is handling international sales and UTA Independent Film Group is representing North American rights.

The key HODs on the film include Robbie Ryan as director of photography, Dixie Chassay as casting director, Saffron Cullane as costume designer, John Leslie as production designer, Wakana Yoshihara as hair and makeup designer, and John Walters as editor.

The film reunites Cassidy, Nivola and Pearce, who recently starred together in Brady Corbet’s Oscar-winning The Brutalist.

The Ireland-Switzerland-UK co-production is produced by Ireland’s Cuala Films, in co-production with the UK’s Smoke Puppy and Switzerland’s Rita Productions, in association with Sleeper Films, Carte Blanche and Onsight.

Support comes from Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, BCP Asset Management, the Swiss Federal Office of Culture/FOC, Eurimages, RTS/SSR SRG, Cinéforom and Praesens Film.

Executive producers are Tassilo Hallbauer for Beta, Greg Martin for Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland, Oisín O’Neill for BCP, Richard Fearn, Mickey Gooch Jr., Kyle Stroud for Carte Blanche, Tony Maher, Edmund Tuckett, Michael Wood, Nicolas Sampson and Arno Hazebroek.

The screenplay was developed with support from the British Film Institute (BFI) and Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland.

High End is Campbell-Hughes’ second feature as director. Her debut It Is In Us All launched at SXSW in 2022, where it won the extraordinary cinematic vision award. Campbell-Hughes credits as an actor include playing abductee Natascha Kampusch in 3096 Days and lead roles in titles including Jane Campion’s Bright Star.
