The Benelux Co-Development Fund has awarded three projects an initial €50,000 each, in the first awards it has given since launching a year ago in Cannes to boost cooperation between the Benelux countries.

Julien Henry’s action drama Bangers is being produced by Belgium’s Tarantula, as a coproduction with Topkapi in the Netherlands, Tarantula’s Luxembourg arm, and Flemish company Czar. Henry and François-Michel Allegrini have written the script.

Elisabeth Hesemans’ drama Look Up Sammy, scripted by Caya De Groot, is being produced through Dutch outfit Kepler Film as a coproduction with Samsa Film in Luxembourg and A Private View in Belgium

Nicolas Keppens’ animated feature The Fallen Hero, is produced by Belgian outfit Animal Tank, with Doghouse Films in Luxembourg and Marleen Slot’s Dutch outfit Viking Films

The Benelux Co-Development Fund is a two-year pilot project, supported by the Flanders Audiovisual Fund, the Film and Audiovisual Centre of Wallonia Brussels Federation, the Netherlands Film Fund and Film Fund Luxembourg.

The grants are intended as additional funding for projects that have already confirmed development funding from one or more of the participating film funds.

The next deadline is March 2027.
