Jason Momoa, Tenoch Huerta, Adria Arjona and Kiefer Sutherland have joined Miles Teller on Black Bear’s TIFF: The Market thriller sales title Copperhead, scheduled to begin production in Oklahoma City in September.
John Swab directs from a screenplay by Chad Feehan and J. Todd Scott. Black Label Media is financing the project and produces alongside Teller’s Lime Tree Productions and Swab’s Milk Boy.
Copperhead centres on a veteran detective forced to partner with a young federal agent to unravel a conspiracy inside their elite task force when an undercover drug deal goes wrong. CAA Media Finance and WME Independent represent US rights.
Teller stars in James Gray’s Cannes and upcoming New York Film Festival selection Paper Tiger at Neon. Momoa will next be seen in Dune: Part Three and the upcoming A Minecraft Movie: Squared; and Huerta from Narcos: Mexico will reprise his role as Namor in Avengers: Doomsday.
Arjona from Hit Man will next be seen in Onslaught and 2027 release The Thomas Crown Affair opposite Michael B. Jordan; and Sutherland, best known for portraying Jack Bauer in the Fox TV drama 24, stars opposite Al Pacino in Barthélémy Grossmann’s Venice out-of-competition selection Father Joe written by Luc Besson.
