‘Reedland’

EXCLUSIVE: Cineart has taken Benelux rights to Critics’ Week title Reedland, the feature debut of Dutch director Sven Bresser, that is being sold by France’s The Party Film Sales.

Reedland is a dark drama featuring non-professionals and about a farmer who discovers a girl’s body in the reed land where he works. Marleen Slot’s Viking Film has produced the film which was presented as a work in progress in Les Arcs 2024.

Cineart has also pre-bought Eric Toledano and Olivier Nakache’s coming-of-age drama, Just An Illusion, starring Camille Cottin and Louis Garrel from Gaumont.

Now part of the Mubi empire, Cineart has been busily filling its slate with other Cannes festival and market acquisitions. It recently picked up the opening film, Leave One Day by Amélie Bonnin.

Cineart is continuing to work with directors including the Dardennes brothers and Joachim Trier whose Cannes competition titles The Young Mothers’ Home and Sentimental Value it will release. It has taken Case 137 from Dominik Moll and Eagles Of The Republic by Tarik Saleh as well as Directors’ Fortnight title Enzo from Robin Campillo.

Meanwhile, Cineart has been partnering with Mubi on the Benelux release of its new parent company’stitles including Priscilla, The Substance and Queer, and will be doing the same for forthcoming titles such as Laszlo Nemes’ Orphan and Jim Jarmusch’s Father, Mother, Sister, Brother.

Further acquisitions include Berlin competition contender What Marielle Knows, Little Trouble Girls and Sorda.

Cineart also continues to work with Curzon and Madman on its development fund through which it has backed such titles as Edward Berger’s The Ballad Of A Small Player and Jonatan Etzler’s thriller Bad Apples.
