The Academy on Friday announced the eligible international , documentary and animated features in consideration for the 98th Oscars on March 15, 2026.

Eighty-six international features are in contention. Submissions must be feature-length, run longer than 40 minutes, and be produced outside the United States with a predominantly non-English dialogue track of more than 50%.

Titles include Germany’s Sound Of Falling, Iraq’s The President’s Cake, Tunisia’s The Voice Of Hind Rajab, the UK’s My Father’s Shadow, Ukraine’s 2000 Meters To AndriivkaIt Was Just An Accident for France, South Korea’s No Other Choice, Spain’s Sirât, and Sentimental Value for Norway, and The Secret Agent for Brazil.

Academy members from all branches can opt in to vote in the preliminary round and must meet a minimum viewing requirement.

Thirty-five features are eligible for the animated feature film category. Those that have not yet had their required qualifying release must fulfil that requirement and comply with all the category’s other qualifying rules to advance in the voting process.

Animation branch members will determine the five nominees, and Academy members outside the branch can opt in to participate and must meet a minimum viewing requirement to vote. Submissions include KPop Demon Hunters, Scarlet, Elio, ArcoDemon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle, and Zootopia 2.

Two hundred and one features are eligible for consideration in the documentary feature and films that have not yet been released must comply with requirements. Documentary features that have won a qualifying film festival award or been submitted in the international feature film category are also eligible.

Contenders include Cover-UpAntidote, Apocalypse In The Tropics, The Perfect Neighbor, Becoming Led Zeppelin, The Librarians, One To One: John And YokoOrwell 2+2=5, Riefenstahl, Predators, and Put Your Soul On Your Hand And Walk.

The shortlists will be announced on December 16, and the nominations will be unveiled on January 22, 2026.
