EXCLUSIVE: Fortitude International has reported brisk sales in Cannes on its slate of genre titles led by the Liam Hemsworth horror thriller They Like The Dark and Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Orlando Bloom action thriller Reset.
Rights to Scott Free and Gramercy Park Media’s They Like The Dark have gone in Australia and Canada (VVS), Italy (Blue Swan), Spain (Jose Frade), Latin America (IDC), Greece/Cyprus (Tanweer), Philippines (Captive), and India and airlines (Pictureworks).
Ridley Scott is a producer on the feature described as The Raid with vampires, about a half-blind bomb technician who wakes up chained in a warehouse and must escape with his service dog from the horrors within. Mike Pecci will direct and Gramercy is financing. Production is scheduled for October in the US.
Reset has sold to Wild Bunch for Germany and Youplanet for Spain. Chopra Jones plays a woman who awakens in a tent in the wilderness and relies on a charming stranger who might be her path to survival. As her memory gradually returns, she begins to doubt his motives.
Deals have also closed in the Middle East (Falcon), Greece/Cyprus (Tanweer), Canada (VVS), Eastern Europe (Prorom), Poland (Kino Swiat), and Pictureworks for India and Airlines.
Matt Smukler will direct and Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber of Fratricidal Films produce with Michael Lazarovitch for Chemically Altered, Matthew Rhodes of Rhodes Entertainment, Chopra Jonas’ Purple Pebble Pictures, and Bloom’s Amazing Owl. Fortitude CEO Nadine de Barros is executive producer and production is scheduled for August in the US.
