Glenn Close has been named president of the official selection jury for the 70th San Sebastian International Film Festival (SSIFF, September 16-24).
Close will be joined by French director and casting director Antoinette Boulat; Danish filmmaker Tea Lindeburg; Argentinian producer Matías Mosteirín; Spanish writer Rosa Montero; Mosotho filmmaker Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese and the Icelandic director and screenwriter Hlynur Pálmason.
Wang Chao’s A Woman has also been added to SSIFF’s official selection, becoming the 16th title eligible for the Golden Shell.
The Chinese film is based on Zhang Xiu Zhen’s autobiography Dream and follows an aspiring female writer at the height of the cultural revolution.
Chao is best known for Luxury Car which picked up best film at the 2006 Cannes Un Certain Regard. His other films include Orphan Of Anyang and Fantasia.
Other juries
The jury for the New Directors award will be presided over by Romanian filmmaker Alina Grigore. The other members are Italian programmer Paolo Moretti; Spanish film critic Paula Arantzazu Ruiz; Argentinian writer Selva Almada and Indian filmmaker Ashmita Guha.
Italian producer Giovanni Pompili was named president of the Horizons jury and is joined by El Savadorian filmmaker Tatiana Huezo and Spanish film critic Júlia Olmo.
The Zabaltegi-Tabakalera award will be presided over by Argentinian filmmaker Albertina Carri with other jury members including Rotterdam Festival’s director Vanja Kaludjercic and producer-director Manuel Calvo.
Leading the Irizar jury is journalist and writer Ander Izagirre, who is joined by writer Nerea Kortabitarte and programmer Txema Muñoz.
Argentinian filmmaker Andres Di Tella will preside over the Nest jury while the European Latin American co-production award will be selected by Spanish analyst Pau Brunet, Cuban producer Claudia Calviño and Danish producer Katrin Pors.
