Godzilla Minus Zero

Takashi Yamazaki’s Godzilla Minus Zero will receive its world premiere as the Spotlight Gala selection at the 64th New York Film Festival on September 26.

Yamazaki and members of the cast and crew are scheduled to attend. Godzilla Minus Zero is Yamazaki’s follow-up to his 2023 Godzilla Minus One, which won the special effects Oscar in 2024 and grossed $57.1m to become the third highest-grossing live-action non-English-language release at the North American box office.

The new film picks up in 1949, two years after events in Godzilla Minus One, as the Shikishima family face a new calamity

Toho will release Godzilla Minus Zero in Japan on November 3 and Gkids will release in North America on November 6. The Godzilla Minus Zero release is the first time a Godzilla film will open so close together in Japan and North America.

November 3 is officially celebrated worldwide as Godzilla Day, marking the anniversary of the original monster feature’s theatrical release in Japan in 1954.

The 64th New York Film Festival runs September 25-October 12.
