
US actor Woody Harrelson will receive the honorary Heart of Sarajevo award at the upcoming Sarajevo Film Festival (August 14-21).
His 40-year career on screen ranges from Oscar-nominated performances in The People vs. Larry Flynt, The Messenger and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri to Cannes Palme d’Or winnerTriangle Of Sadness.
Harrelson’s upcoming films include Apple TV’s Brothers alongside Matthew McConaughey and Netflix’s The Cackling Of The Dodos. He is also producing a feature documentary on Austin’s iconic music hall, Armadillo World Headquarters and starred in Quentin Dupieux’s Cannes 2026 premiere Full Phil.
Michael Winterbottom’s 1997 film Welcome To Sarajevo, which stars Harrelson, premiered at Cannes and screened at the 3rd Sarajevo Film Festival, will also screen at this year’s edition.
Bosnian actor Emir Hadžihafizbegović, Mexican actor-filmmaker Diego Luna, Iranian director and screenwriter Asghar Farhadi and Hamnet star Emily Watson will also receive honorary awards at this year’s festival.
