Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, A Bigger Boat and GreeneStreet Films have acquired Obsessed screenwriter David Loughery’s supernatural thriller pitch Mourning After.

The partners will co-finance, develop and produce the story, set in San Francisco, about a man who falls in love with a woman who harbours a dark secret.

Loughery is currently writing the screenplay based on an original idea by Charles Segars and Steve Ireland. No international sales agent has been appointed yet.

LA-based producers Sparkler Entertainment brought the project to Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Sparkler’s Andrew Bernstein will serve as executive producer.

Loughery recently wrote the thriller Obsessed starring Beyonce Knowles, Ali Larter and Idris Elba for Screen Gems and the 2008 thriller Lakeview Terrace with Samuel L Jackson, also for Screen Gems.

Peter Block’s A Bigger Boat and GreeneStreet Films are currently working with Sidney Kimmel Entertainment on Mixed Blood, a crime thriller starring Jackson that Phillip Noyce is attached to direct.

Loughery is represented by ICM. Nick Hanks, senior vice-president of legal and business affairs at Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, negotiated the deal on behalf of the company.
