EXCLUSIVE: European development programme Less Is More is undergoing structural changes to become LIM², and has selected 80 participants for its 2026 edition.
LIM² will use upgraded tools and methodology, from collaborations with European researchers at European think tank StoryTank. It has also added a separate online programme for 56 projects led by 61 writer-directors.

LIM² has selected 19 feature filmmaker writers and directors for its main in-person programme, which consists of three one-week workshops in France between March and October.
The 2026 participants include UK-Kazakh filmmaker Zhannat Alshanova with her project A Minor Issue. Alshanova’s debut feature Becoming premiered at Locarno Film Festival before going on to Busan, Tallinn and Goteborg.
Also selected is Dutch-Belgian filmmaker Evi Cats with debut feature Where waves crash in their own time, after shorts including IDFA 2022 selection Les Murs Qui Crient.
The online programme will offer an extended demonstration of LIM²’s methods, designed to support the early stages of fiction feature film development.
“A new generation of devices will allow authors and filmmakers to immerse themselves in practices of deepening and densifying narrative proposals,” said LIM² CEO Antoine Le Bos of the practical changes to the LIM² methods. “These tools respond to fierce individualism through collaboration between sensibilities and mutual aid between peoples.”
“These 16 LIM² projects have been carefully chosen for their cinematic quality and thematic relevance,” said LIM² artistic director Massimiliano Nardulli. “They come from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds, with film projects capable of reaching a broad audience, speaking more or less explicitly to today’s world.
Awaiting them in the coming months is a process of collective reworking, exploring the possibilities of each story, with moments of fermentation and distillation to create an even more compelling project.”
