Martin McDonagh’s dramatic thriller Wild Horse Nine has been set for an awards corridor US release on November 11 through Disney’s Searchlight Pictures.
The film, written and directed by McDonagh and reportedly about a pair of CIA agents on a trust-testing mission from Santiago to Easter Island during the 1973 coup in Chile, has an international ensemble cast including Parker Posey, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, John Malkovich, Tom Waits and Mariana Di Girolamo.
Producers are McDonagh’s regular collaborators Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin, along with McDonagh himself and Anita Overland. Broadbent and Czernin’s UK company Blueprint Pictures is producing in association with Film4 and Searchlight.
Wild Horse Nine was shot in Santiago and on Rapa Nui, with filming completed last spring.
McDonagh previously worked with Blueprint and Searchlight on The Banshees Of Inisherin, which earned multiple Oscar nominations and won four Bafta film awards, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, winner or two Oscars and five Bafta film awards, including best film.
