
Senior executives from Netflix, Disney+ and AGC Studios are among the speakers confirmed for the Red Sea Souk, the industry programme of the Red Sea International Film Festival, which runs from December 4-13.
The Souk will take place from December 6-10 and will feature more than 160 exhibitors from 45 countries in its marketplace, a 20% increase in stands from the previous edition.
The Souk Talks industry conversation programme includes Tamim Fares, director of Disney+ MENA; Imane Mezher Gibran, Netflix non-fiction commissioner for the Middle East and Africa; and Stuart Ford, CEO of AGC Studios.
Other executives speaking include Steve Plimsoll of Saudi AI organisation Humain; Gianluca Chakra of MENA distributor Front Row Entertainment; Alaa Fadan, the founder of leading Saudi producer Telfaz 11; Alaa Karkouti, the founder of MAD Solutions and Arab Cinema Center; Gaëtan Bruel, CEO of France’s CNC; and Ash Atalla, founder of the UK’s Roughcut Television and producer of The Office.
The Souk will also include events hosted by organisations including Saudi Arabia’s Cultural Development Fund, Amazon Studios and Cinemas of India.
Meanwhile, the Souk Talents strand will provide film professionals from Saudi Arabia and the Arab region a programme of workshops, mentorship and interactive talks.
The previously announced Project Market will take place during the Souk, presenting 40 feature and TV projects in development, production and post-production from Africa, Asia and the MENA region.
The Souk activities will take place in an expanded purpose-built location near the festival’s headquarters at the Cultural Square.
