Ryan Gosling is understood to be exiting Universal’s upcoming event film from Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert due to scheduling issues.

Reports emerged last week that the star of box office hit Project Hail Mary was preparing a Los Angeles summer shoot with the Daniels in what will be their first feature since 2022 multiple Oscar winner Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Screen understands the Daniels are proceeding with the sci-fi tentpole, which has secured a California tax credit and is otherwise scheduled to open on November 19 2027.

Plot details remain under wraps. Kwan, Scheinert and Jonathan Wang of Playgrounds are producing through their overall deal with Universal

Project Hail Mary is heading into its third weekend and currently stands at more than $181m in North America and $334m at the worldwide box office.
