EXCLUSIVE: UK genre filmmaker Simon Rumley’s Thailand-set thriller Crushed has landed key deals for sales agent Film Seekers, including Breaking Glass Pictures for North America and GrimmVision – Grimmfest’s new distribution arm – for UK-Ireland.
The film world premiered last summer at Edinburgh, and has also played at genre festivals including Fantastic Fest and Sitges. A theatrical release in UK-Ireland and North America is planned for August/September.
Further deals include airlines (Silk Route) and Taiwan (Creative Century).
Crushed follows a British pastor whose family’s faith and resilience is tested when their young daughter is kidnapped. With the support of local authorities and its tight-knit community, the family navigates a maze of fear, faith and desperation to find her. Steve Oram, Sahajak Boonthanakit and Margaux Dietrich star.
It is produced by UK-Thai Tom Waller of De Warrenne Pictures and executive produced by Doug Abbott, John Wolstenholme, Steve Jaggi, Lionel Hicks and Roger Bassett.
Last year, Manchester festival GrimmFest teamed up with UK distributor Trinity Content Partners to launch GrimmVision, a new distribution label for independent genre filmmakers internationally.
UK-based Film Seekers was recently acquired by US firm Epic Pictures Group.
