EXCLUSIVE: Damian Spandley joins as head of theatrical, TV and new media sales, Joel Kennedy joins eOne.

UK distributor Metrodome has appointed Damian Spandley head of theatrical, TV and new media sales.

Spandley joins from The Works Distribution, where he served as head of theatrical. He was previously a senior film programmer at Picturehouse Cinemas.

In a company reshuffle, Giles Edwards has been promoted to head of acquisitions, replacing Joel Kennedy who will this week join eOne UK as maternity cover for acquisitions manager Poonam Sahota.

Ella Field will join the Metrodome acquisitions team as junior acquisitions executive after working at production and sales company Mercury Media.

Jezz Vernon, managing director, Metrodome, told Screen: “We are very pleased to welcome Damian Spandley to the team.

“His wealth of experience and knowledge will be of huge value to Metrodome; and we’re delighted to announce the promotion of Giles Edwards to head of acquisitions – he’s constantly demonstrated a sharp commercial instinct, excellent taste and has been a key deal-maker since he joined the team.

“I look forward to working closely with both of them to continue to build the business.”

Metrodome is the among the independent UK distribution outfits looking to capitalise on the recent shakeup in the UK landscape, with direct competitor Revolver in trouble, the likes of Momentum and G2 no longer in business and other established and nascent players struggling to meet the cost of theatrical releasing.

At eOne, Kennedy will report to Lara Thompson, evp of filmed entertainment, and Ken McMahon, recently appointed head of home entertainment for UK.
