EXCLUSIVE: MetFilm Sales has acquired international rights to Brydie O’Connor’ debut documentary Barbara Forever, about the life, work and cultural impact of Barbara Hammer.
MetFilm will present the title to international buyers for the first time at next week’s European Film Market (February 12-18). Cinetic Media represents North America sales.
Barbara Forever had its world premiere in the US documentary section at 2026 Sundance Film Festival, winning the Jonathan Oppenheim editing prize.
It will have its European premiere on Sunday, February 15 in the Forum strand at Berlin Film Festival.
The film is produced by Elijah Stevens, Claire Edelman and O’Connor, and executive produced by Christine Vachon.
Hammer, who died in 2019, was a pioneer of queer cinema, through films including Dyketactics, Audience and Nitrate Kisses.
Barbara Forever joins a MetFilm slate that includes Ross McElwee’s Remake, winner of the Golden Globes Impact prize for Documentary at Venice.
