The Academy has struck a 10-year deal with AEG to relocate the Oscars to L.A. LIVE in Downtown Los Angeles starting with the 101st ceremony in 2029, when YouTube will stream the event for the first time under its separate deal.

The ceremony will take place in L.A. LIVE’s Peacock Theater. AEG will begin “comprehensive enhancements” to the theatre, including upgrades to the stage, sound and lighting systems, lobbies, backstage facilities and additional production-critical areas.

L.A. LIVE’s recently-expanded plaza will host red carpet arrivals and activities.

“We are thrilled to partner with a global powerhouse like AEG,” Academy president Bill Kramer and president Lynette Howell Taylor said. “Their track record for building and operating technologically sophisticated live performance venues is unrivaled.”

“L.A. LIVE was built to host the moments that define culture, and there is no greater global stage than the Oscars,” said Todd Goldstein, Chief Revenue Officer, AEG.

The Oscars will continue to take place at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be televised live on ABC in the US, and air in more than 200 territories worldwide, through the 100th Oscars in 2028.
