EXCLUSIVE: MetFilm Sales has acquired world sales rights to Salvation, the directorial debut of Screen Rising Star Scotland Tom Nicoll.
Salvation will have its world premiere next month in the Discovery section at Toronto International Film Festival.
The darkly comic psychological thriller follows a sincere but deluded influencer who spends money setting up the life-coaching business of his dreams, only to find that nobody wants his advice. As the debts from his gamble start to spiral out of control, he must resort to ever more extreme solutions to stay afloat.
Salvation stars Liam Harkins, Stephen McMillan, Kathleen McDermott and Conor McCarron. It is written and directed by Nicoll, and is produced by Dom Riley, Nicoll, Scott Trotter and Sophie Chater for Lane Films, with support from Screen Scotland.
Executive producers are Catherine Bray – who writes for Screen in a separate capacity as a critic - and Kieran Hannigan.
Nicoll described MetFilm Sales as “a company that has ambitions which align with my own: to make authored, character-driven entertainment that grips, provokes and moves audiences in equal measure. I’m so excited to show Salvation to the world alongside them.”

The company’s current slate includes Wales-set revenge Western Lluest, and Sundance award-winning documentary To Hold A Mountain.
